About Us
Solerco Products was founded in 1976 by Carlo Capaldi after he met, by chance, Dott. Antonio Meucci. Carlo was already part of a well established ‘ice cream family’ in York, and being born into the business meant he had many years experience of making and selling ice cream. He had certainly served many hours apprenticeship and still has fond memories of not only making the ice cream but also selling from one of the family vans.
At the time of the first meeting between Carlo and Antonio, Meucci in Milan were wishing to expand into the UK market and Carlo saw potential for quality continental style ice cream in this country. It was a challenge, as any suggestion made to the UK manufacturers to change their style of ice cream was met with “my customers only like vanilla and strawberry”. Help in changing their views came from across the Atlantic with the appearance of American Ice Cream Parlours serving many different flavours.
Solerco has gone from strength to strength since then and is still the sole importer of Meucci flavours and ingredients. Meucci themselves are a family business and have now been established for over 100 years. The technical backup from Meucci Milano helps Solerco to provide a complete service to the ice cream industry, which is built on a long-standing reputation for quality and service.
Over the years Solerco has added many flavours and ancillary lines to their listing; and now supply a wide variety of products to both the large and small user throughout the UK & Ireland.
